Erasmus+ youth exchange “Equality, Equity and Justice” brought a unique opportunity for young people from Malta, Georgia, Latvia, Armenia, Greece, Lithuania to engage with issues of social justice, equality, and equity while also addressing complex challenges like violent extremism and activism. Through the activities and NFE methodologies, young people have been encouraged to work together and develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their place in the world. One key point of the youth exchange was to develop competencies connected with preventing radicalisation and violent extremism among young people. Besides, the main objective of the project was to produce a mutual understanding to make a strong contribution to the fight against violent extremism and hate speech. Actions were taken to promote the respect for human rights, gender equality, democracy, peace, building initiatives, social inclusion and intercultural dialogue. During the project, through the interactive activities participants developed critical thinking and media literacy, which are the combination of skills that they need to use as a response to hate speech and radicalisation. Participants learned how to identify and respond to hate speech and propaganda, including false or misleading information, which can lead to radicalisation and violent extremism. Also, young people were able to understand the importance of fair and equal treatment of people, regardless of their background or circumstances. Lastly, young people realized how important it is to build an inclusive, tolerant, and peaceful world.
